Membership Classification
A person may become a member of the Hong Kong Mediation Society Limited (the "institute") only if:
• That person has completed an application for membership in a form approved by the directors or a Council appointed by the directors of the institute; and
• The directors or a Council appointed by the directors of the institute have approved the application.
Unless otherwise, the relevant fees are waived at the outset, subject to an undertaking to tender payment of the applicable Admission Fee and the applicable Annual Membership Fees, the following person shall be eligible to apply for membership under the different classification of membership scheme:
1. Fellow Member (“FHKMS”)
a.
All Founding Members; or
b.
Members of the Executive Council of the institute have performed well during their term of office, and are recommended by the new Executive Council upon the expiration of their terms; or
c.
All senior mentors recognized by the institute and actively assist in the development of the institute's affairs, provided that they are recommended by the new Executive Council or two current senior members; or
d.
Has been a panel member of the institute for at least six years, during which he has actively participated in and assisted in the development of the institute's affairs, including frequently publishing relevant academic literature for the institute, etc., and has been recommended by the new Executive Council or two current senior members.
2. Member (“MHKMS”)
a.
Who agree with the purpose of the institute; and
b.
Persons who have completed a mediator training course recognized by the Executive Council; and
c.
Holders of the Certificate of Accredited Senior Mediator Training Course issued by other Hong Kong or overseas organizations and registered as Accredited Mediator shall be approved by the Executive Council of the institute.
3. Associate Member (“AHKMS”)
a.
Those who agree with the objectives of the institute; and
b.
Have participated in the seminars and workshops organized by the institute; and
c.
Are interested in learning more about mediation must be approved by the Executive Council of the institute.
4. Corporate Member
Admission of corporate membership to the institute shall be subject to approval of the Executive Council of the institute.
5. Student Member
a.
Those who are secondary school students (full-time), junior college or university students studying in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region ("Hong Kong") who agree with the objectives of the institute; and
b.
Have participated in the seminars and workshops organized by the institute; and
c.
Are interested in learning more about mediation must be approved by the executive meeting of the Executive Council of the institute.
